Selamat Hari Merdeka to all Malaysians.
This year, we celebrate the 60th anniversary of our nation’s independence. Undeniably, this has been a journey of growth, of progress, and most importantly, of forging our identity as a multicultural and peaceful nation. Through lessons learnt and successes achieved, we have thrived through the decades in the face of challenges and hurdles.
Looking back, it is clear that social harmony and unity is a vital part of any country’s development. As one Rakyat, we are the backbone of Malaysia’s drive towards attaining developed nation status. This is clearly evident in the great strides we have made across multiple sectors, from economics and finance, to education and infrastructure development, as well as in sports on the global stage.
The results of the recently-concluded 29th SEA Games are a true testament of the heights Malaysians are capable of. Indeed, our incredibly talented superstars which make up our Malaysian contingent has without a doubt made the nation proud, as they demonstrated grit, determination, discipline and sheer skill from the very first day of the Games.
There can be no better way to usher in our 60th year of independence than with the sweeping wins and record-breaking performances our national athletes have shown.
In this spirit of sportsmanship, camaraderie and semangat Negaraku, let us not only congratulate their achievements in the Games, but also be inspired by their passion and hard work in representing Malaysia.
Once again, Selamat Hari Merdeka yang ke-60 to all Malaysians. To those who may be travelling over the weekend, do be sure to stay safe on the road.
